My Food Philosophy

I wanted to let ya'll know what my food philosophy is. I try to eat healthy most of time, but no food is off limits. Generally, if I am craving a particular food I will let myself eat it. I choose foods that are as natural as possible with the least amount of added "stuff".

These are some of the foods that I eat on a regular basis.

Whole Grains
Fruit
I love fruit. It makes a great portable, full of fiber, sweet snack.
  • Apples
  • Citrus: oranges, grapefruit, clementines
  • Bananas
  • Pears
  • Mangos
  • Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Blackberries
  • Pineapple
  • Watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe
Veggies
I truly like most vegetables. Exceptions: brussel sprouts and eggplant. In all fairness it has been years since I had brussel sprouts so I might have to retry it. (Anyone have a good recipe?)
  • Greens: Baby Spinach, Baby Spring Mix
  • Broccoli, Cauliflower
  • Bell Peppers: green, red, yellow, and orange
  • Carrots
  • Red cabbage
  • Tomatoes
  • Zucchini, Yellow Squash
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Pumpkin
  • Butternut Squash
  • Red Potatoes
  • Green Beans
  • Mushrooms
  • Artichokes
  • Corn
  • Peas
Protein
I am not vegetarian nor vegan, but I often enjoy cooking vegan meals. I rarely eat red meat unless it is prepared by my mom or I'm craving a burger.
  • Nuts
  • Nut Butters (Peanut and almond are my favorites)
  • Hummus
  • Beans
  • Chicken Breast
  • Turkey (deli meat for sandwiches)
  • Tofu
  • Shrimp
  • Salmon
  • Tilapia
  • Tuna
  • Eggs/Egg whites (not my favorite but once in awhile I'll eat it)
Dairy
I try to limit my dairy intake because I have a sensitive stomach and can only handle it in small amounts. For the most part, I drink milk alternatives.
  • Hemp Milk
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • Unsweetened Soy Milk
  • 1% milk
  • Low fat, plain yogurt
  • Greek Yogurt (awesome sub for sour cream)
Other
Snacks and goodies I like to eat.
I have a sensitive stomach so I found that eating this way is what works best for me. These foods make my body and mind feel good. I am by no means perfect. I definitely splurge and overindulge more often than not. In the past I have felt disgusted and beat myself up for it. Now I focus on just moving forward and nourishing my body with the food it needs. What works for one person, may not work for someone else. So listen to your body and eat foods that make it feel great!

Hey! I just found your blog via the lovely Tina's (hey Tina!) and it's awesome! :) I'm totally with you on your philosophy, BUT...I ENCOURAGE YOU TO TRY THE B-SPROUTS AGAIN! I'll help you out if need be, and give you how I cook them and they'll turn out p.e.r.f.e.c.t and divine every time (at least in my opinion... But lord knows it doesn't appeal to everyone, I'm sure!)! Welcome to the blogsphere :) I hope you have a fabulous Humpday!
